What species is my Crayfish?

For those of you that would like to have a go at identifying your crayfish use these crayfish identification keys HERE. For the inexperienced, using keys will prove quite difficult as many take years to learn but for those interested in learning, that site a good place to start.

When asking for help identifying which species you have, it is handy to let us know where you got it (or caught it) and add as many photos as possible of the crayfish from all angles: Top, bottom, head, tail and claws. Keep in mind it is very difficult to identify some species accurately only with pictures as many crayfish look almost identical until details are examined. There are many crayfish that can only be identified under microscopic examination.

Also keep in mind that juveniles of different species may look almost identical until they mature and it is therefore risky to attempt to identify them. If you are trying to identify another forum member's crayfish but are not sure about it, please say so. On top of that, if you are making an educated guess but are not 100% sure, explain your reasoning so that the other members understand where you are coming from. Not all crayfish will be identified beyond a doubt, but our members will do their best to help you.
